So the St. Pete Times recommends Mark Sharpe for the County Commission in District 7.

Uncontrolled growth is the biggest problem in the county. It negatively affects every major issue – traffic, water, environment, taxes, and education (if you want to know how uncontrolled growth affects these issues, check my web site, www.votejoeredner.com).

Do we need another politician that’s in the pocket of the developers?

Sharpe gets most of his campaign money from the developers – as does Ronda Storms, Ken Hagen, and Brian Blair. Since campaigning Sharpe listened to me and changed his mind on impact fees and other issues. Like putting development in urban areas where density will not destroy the environment and will raise more taxes, instead of in the rural areas where the county commission is directing development now. You can expect more of the same with Mark Sharpe.

As for the stupid statement that the Mons Venus is a sexist business (besides the hypocrisy of a newspaper that uses sex as one of the ways to boost it’s circulation) this is clearly an attack against me that reflects the personal prejudices of the editorial board. Unlike this newspaper I know how to put my personal prejudices aside when it comes to making choices that are best for our community. That’s why I’m strongly endorsing Bob Buckhorn over Brian Blair in the race for District 6.

The women who work at the Mons Venus are probably doing more to improve themselves than you are. I’m doing everything I can to help them. Women, some who have been mistreated before they ever started dancing, by thier families, schools, society in general, and this attitude that men can use their bodies to further themselves, but women can’t. Why is sex demeaning to only one of the parties involved? Dancers use this part of their lives to better themselves, to get self esteem, to put themselves through school, to put their children through school (children they had before they started dancing), dancing they do as a last resort – so they can give their children a good education, live in a good neighborhood, and live productive lives.

I speak at USF and I usually see one or two dancers in the audience – going to school to improve themselves. With their original education where could they get a job to do this? Yes some of the dancers don’t like what they do, but check any job and you’ll find perfectly normal people who don’t like what they do. Most people don’t even like to go to work, but many dancers do like their job and feel fine about it.
