The unofficial update on Bush’ most key insiders for procurement of foreign oil.

There is a cabinet that operates outside the realm of President Bush’s regular Cabinet. A cabinet that functions for the sole purpose of paving the way for the president to have easier access to overseas oil after the military has already done the dirty work of wiping away opposition government, and installing democratic regimes. Collectively (and loosely) named after “Slick 50” synthetic engine oil) this writer calls them the Slick 15 Oil Cabinet.

The most significant resignation of a government official since the Iraqi invasion has to be that of Army Secretary Thomas White. White-a member of President Bush’s Slick 15 Oil Cabinet-was reported to be at odds with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld reportedly because he didn’t agree with Rumsfeld’s proposal to cancel the crusader artillery project. White was far from being the only military official murmuring against the poetry-spouting Defense Secretary, but he was already involved in his own controversy over his former past as an executive for the scandal-ridden Enron Corporation. Reportedly under his leadership Enron inflated the value of energy contracts with Eli Lilly, Owens Corning and Quaker Oats. You will find one commonality among this synthetic cabinet, they’re ties to oil and energy companies (the US Department of Energy has targeted 18 countries as future sources of oil). Though there is some overlap between the Slick 15 and Bush’s White House cabinet, there are also some changes since the first Slick 15 column I wrote a couple years ago.

The original purpose for these appointments however, have not changed, to aid Bush in finding alternate sources of oil other than Saudi Arabia (and the United States since Bush isn’t considering the use of Ethanol). At the time I first wrote about this oil cabinet the US was importing 55% of its oil, with over 20% coming from the Saudis, and Africa was the next designated target of oil, with the Department of Energy setting their sights on 18 African countries.

Here is a listing of the synthetic cabinet along with a brief commentary on them.
